CAUTION – Contains Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll! Rock guitarist Adam ‘Bomb’ Brenner’s autobiography is a wild ride. Beginning with his childhood as part of a well-known Seattle Jewish family (his father established the famous Brenner’s bakery) he tells fascinating tales of his family’s experiences and persecution during the pogroms leading up to and during the second world war, and their love and courage through very difficult times. On through the turbulent teenage years, as the electric guitar begins to cast its mesmerising spell, he takes us through the early awakenings of a rock & roll hunger, several broken guitars, school gigs and chaotic bands as he masters his instrument and starts to become a local guitar hero kid. Out into the world, there are backstage guitar lessons from Eddie Van Halen, sharing a stage with Kiss, and encounters with the struggling young rockers who would become Guns & Roses, Bon Jovi, Queensryche, Def Leppard…the list is endless. Adam’s story is packed with experiences, good and bad, from the rock music biz. All laced with large measures of Sex, drugs and Rock & Roll! If you are a fan of guitars and gear (he shares a wealth of technique, both his own and passed down from the masters), loud rock music, or just a lust for life and an unquenchable drive to live the rock & roll life, you will love this book.

MEDIA REVIEWS

Billy Idol set a new standard for debauchery when singer-guitarist Adam Bomb met him in 1985 in a suite at the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood, Calif. In his new book, “911 Is Disconnected: So This Is Rock and Roll,” out April 10 from New Haven Publishing, Bomb recalls, “[Idol] was butt naked except for a pair of cowboy boots.”

Bomb, who’s performed with the late Chuck Berry and Mick Taylor, said Idol, a huge star following the release of his second album, “Rebel Yell,” was partying with his manager Bill Aucoin, who had discovered Kiss, and a half-dozen boys “most likely picked up on Santa Monica Boulevard,” all wearing black leather underwear.

Kiss auditioned dozens of potential replacements after Ace Frehley departed the line-up in the early ’80s — including a teenage guitarist calling himself Adam Bomb, who recounts the experience in his upcoming memoir.
It wasn’t his last time rubbing shoulders with rock royalty, however; more of Bomb’s exploits — including his experiences with members of Van Halen, Aerosmith, Guns & Roses, Bon Jovi, Queensryche and Def Leppard — can be found in the pages of 911 Is Disconnected
